Alumnus Promoted Within Major League Baseball Front Office
Manuel Colon, who graduated from UT Martin in 2001, spent his college years dreaming of becoming the first Latin General Manager in Major League Baseball. Summers away from Martin were spent working on internships with minor league teams like the New Jersey Cardinals. Without a doubt, baseball was one of his primary passions. It would be fair to say that one of his other passions was SigEp, where he served as Vice President of Finance during his senior year.
By combining his passions and applying experience he gained in college and in SigEp, Manuel is well on his way toward success in his field. After graduating from UT Martin, he moved to Miami to pursue his master's degree in sports administration. He later was hired by the Florida Marlins and began working with the players in a community outreach role. This week, it was announced that he would be the team's traveling secretary this season, which is a vital position in the operation of a Major League team.
